NOTES FOR ADMINISTRATORS
In order to stream audio, two files need to be created:
FILE 1: Hinted .mp4 file for streaming
1. Take uncompressed .wav or .aiff audio file.
2. Make sure there are no spaces in the file names.
3. Open in quicktime pro.
4. Select "File > export".
5. Select "Export: Movie to MPEG-4" (from drop-down menu).
6. Select "Use: Streaming - Low" (from drop-down menu).
7. Click "options"
8. Settings should be:
File Format: MP4
Audio
- AAC-LC
- 40 kbps
- mono
- Output sample rate: recommended
- Encoding quality: good
Streaming
- Enabled
- 1450 bytes (Max packet size)
- 100 (Max packet duration)
FILE 2: Reference .mov movie
This file ensures maximum cross-compatability and enables the audio clip to start quickly. In quicktime go to file>openUrl and type in the URL of the stream you with to create a reference movie for. If the intended stream plays, then go to file>SaveAs and select the "reference movie" option. The resulting file should then be uploaded to the same server this site is hosted on.
