Born in Leytonstone in 1941, during his mother's visit to her sister.
6 siblings - living with parents in 2 bedroom house in ???? street
Went to ??? school up to age 11, which became Meridian school. Then moved to
colliston Road(???) school, which is now Christchurch.
As a child, remembers making his "own entertainment" with friends using anything they could find to make toys with (eg. scooters). Used to go swimming in the Thames!
Robertsons - old iron yard, next to old power station hoskins Street & Lassel Street - now posh houses.
Used to help the "totters" out on the beach of the Thames - finding scrap iron & bagging coal.
His Dad was a crane Driver at Redpath Brown's. Mother worked at Telcon(?)
